Berlin’s state-owned housing company provides homes for 100,000 people. GESOBAU does a lot to ensure that its tenants are satisfied. That’s why it has put half a billion euros into modernisation over the last few years.

Challenge

Housing is currently one of the most sensitive issues in the German capital. This can be seen in the intense debates on the rent cap and considerations around the expropriation of real estate companies. The six state-owned housing companies – including GESOBAU – are called on again and again to help find a solution to the housing shortage.
